Ordering repeat prescriptions

The easiest way to order repeat prescriptions is:

These accounts show you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.

You can also:

  • bring the paper form to the Surgery
  • post it with a stamped addressed envelope

Prescriptions for medication that you may have had before but are not on your repeat prescription cannot be issued routinely as above. You may request it by eConsult, telephoning or in person but it must be authorised by your doctor.

Dispensing

There is a dispensary located within the Surgery. We dispense medications directly to patients, if they live more than 1.6km (approximately 1 mile) from a Pharmacy. (This is a government rule, not ours).

  • Dispensary Opening Times: 8am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday.
  • Dispensary Telephone line: 01638 713213 9am to 11am Monday to Friday.

This is a dedicated telephone line where you can discuss any medication queries you may have.
This phone line can be very busy at times, so please be patient.

We accept payments by card using a chip and pin device or contactless payments.

We are currently operating on a 3 working day turn around from ordering to collecting your dispensed medication.

You will recieve a text message from the Surgery when your dispensed medication is ready to collect.

Collecting your prescription from a pharmacy

You can usually collect your prescription from the pharmacy 3 to 5 working days after you have ordered it.

You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.

You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:

  • on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
  • at your GP practice
  • at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions

Please call your phacmacy for updates on the status of your prescription.

Questions about your prescription

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

If you would like to speak to someone at the GP Surgery about your prescription fill out an eConsult

Medication reviews

If you have a repeat prescription, you will have an annual medication review with one of our Surgery pharmacists. This will usually be done via the telephone.

It is important that you are aware of why you take your medications, and that we are aware of any side effects; it is also very important that the medication you take is actually working.

Some medications may require more frequent reviews.

What to do with old medicines

Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.
